The town Erlenbach a. Main
Erlenbach a.Main, with its suburbs Mechenhard and Streit, is the most populated city in the county of Miltenberg. It is situated on one of the loveliest stretches of the river Main. This winegrowing community, where the Spessart and Odenwald forests meet, is a centre for cultural and sports activities.
Regular plays and concerts in the newly designed “Frankenhalle,”
together with an award-winning cinema, literary readings in the city library, a wide choice of courses at the adult education centre and the varied activities in the music school define and shape life in Erlenbach just as much as the sports opportunities at the sport-boat harbour, the tennis courts, and the outdoor swimming pool do. A hospital and a variety of medical specialists ensure local medical care.
Well developed and marked paths invite hikers and from the viewing pavilion on the slopes of the “Hohberg” on the Red Wine Hiking Trail (“Rotweinwanderweg”) you have a bird´s eye view of the town and the Main valley . Erlenbach is also a great starting point for cycling tours, where bikers can explore the immediate surroundings of the Main Valley Cycling Trail (Maintal-Radweg). Not to be missed is the annual wine festival (held on the first weekend in July) and the numerous “Häckerwirtschaften” throughout the year, where local vinters serve food and their own produce and you can convince yourself of the quality of Erlenbach´s “Frankenwein.”
