For hundreds of years, wine has been grown on the steep south westerly slopes. The wine growers have created a unique cultivated landscape. The ideal combination of a Mediterranean microclimate and sandstone is perfect not only for full-bodied red wines, but also for excellent white wines.
Erlenbach is referred to as the gate to the wine terraces, because here visitors have access to the unique cultivated landscape with its steep slopes. The view from the pavilion is particularly impressive, a bird's eye view of the town and the Main valley. Along the vineyard paths, there are signs with information about flora and fauna typical to the area and about sights, natural monuments, vineyards and the locality. Throughout the whole year the car park at the outdoor swimming pool is the starting point for countless visitors walking the Franconian Red Wine Hiking Trail. This easily accessible trail runs through the vineyards with their unique standstone terraces from Erlenbach to Klingenberg.
Apart from the twenty "Häckerwirtschaften", the annual Erlenbach Wine Festival is also a big visitor attraction. Thousands come to the event at the foot of the Hohberg. The "Wengertstreppenfest", which takes place every year on Ascension Day in the middle of the wine terraces, is also well worth a visit.
